I am a member of a group with several different organizers. I enjoy the events that a couple of the organizers host (museums, movies, etc.), but the other organizers are professional promoters and I never care about their events (dance clubs, booze cruises, etc.). Right now there is no way to distinguish among the group's various kinds of events. There should be a way to categorize events so that I can be notified only about those that I like. (In theory I could filter the e-mails, except that one of the promoters is named "Lou" and I obviously don't want to filter out every e-mail I get from people named Lou.)

If you are already subscribed to a few groups then the most important thing to the user is keeping up with all the Events that are coming up in those Groups.

Thus it would make sense that on the personal home page the main, central thing should be all the upcoming events. Instead on the current home page the largest section of the page is devoted to some vaguely related group suggestions.

The upcoming events for subscribed groups is squeezed in on the right under the calender and only shows the next weeks events.

To get a good overview of all the things coming up for the next month I need to check every individual group page. Its so annoying.

I really don't care about these group suggestions, they are the same ones I"ve already considered and decided against. I am however concerned that in two or three weeks time there is an event on for a group that I am already subscribed to. That should be the key thing on the homepage.

I posted this under another heading, but wanted to edit the title to make it more clear what I was asking for. Couldn't figure out how to edit my suggestion, so I'm repeating it here.

As it is now, if we want control over whom we add to the Yes list based on who fulfills the requirements to go on a trip, we have to set the trip limit to 1 (ourselves). That shows that the event is full, and then when people sign up, it forces them on the waitlist instead of the Yes list, and then when they fulfill the requirements to go on the trip (email their cell and emergency contact info to organizer) then we manually move them to the Yes list. For example, before we were setting trip limit to 1, if 12 people could come, we would set that as the limit, and then everyone would get on the Yes list as they RSVPd. Then, the organizer would spend the time up til the event sending out countless emails trying to track everyone down to get them to send the required info. Huge pain in the butt, so in an attempt to simplify things for organizers and only let people get to the Yes list once they sent their info (putting the responsibility on the members instead of the organizers to track everyone down) we started forcing people onto the waitlist when they RSVP, even if a trip actually still has space open, by setting the trip limit falsely to 1.

This creates a HUGE problem, because every event is now listed as full, and it confuses people into thinking the event is full when they are scrolling down looking for open events.

What would solve this issue is if we had more control over waitlist function. In other words, keep the waitlist function SEPARATE from the trip limit function. Allow us to correctly enter in how many people can come, so that it always shows the trip limit number and the spaces still left, while at the same time let us choose to just automatically have EVERY RSVP for that event go by default to waitlist. This would solve the issue, show open trips as open, etc.

I am one of many organizers of one very large backpacking group. We require a liability to be signed in order to go, and to be emailed each attendees phone, emergency contact info, etc. before people can be moved to the Yes list. Half the time, people don't email the info, so we have to track them down, send multiple emails out. It became a huge pain in the butt, so the workaround is that we are now requiring that people put themselves on the waitlist, immediately email us the required info, and as they send us their info, we manually move them to the Yes list.

However, the problem arises when the only way we can get their RSVP to go the waitlist, is that we have to SET THE TRIP LIMIT TO ONE, in the RSVP settings. That means with us, the organizer, going, the trip is listed as full, and people are automaticlly shunted to the waitlist when they RSVP. We WANT them on the waitlist, but we also want the RSVP limit to correctly show how many people can go, as well as how many spots are left.

When members quickly scroll down to see which events still have space, it is deceiving, because it looks like events are full, which actually have plenty of space left.

So, my request is that meetup separate the RSVP limit and RSVP waitlist function. Allow us to choose to have EVERYONE get put on the waitlist, and as they give us whatever is required (for us, info, for others, maybe $) we manually move them to the Yes list. At the same time, allow us to enter in the correct, real number of people that the event is open to.

Current situation:
When a currently loogged out member clicks on a link or enters a link that leads to a particular page/forum/event announcement on the meetup, that member is given the option to log on. After logon, the member is sent not to the link location, but to the Meetup's home page.

Desired situation:
As with other networks, such as LinkedIn, send the member directly to the original link location after logon, not the meetup homescreen. After the member enters his/her logon information, Meetup should behave as if the member had been looged on already and THEN clicked on a link.

Organizers need more robust ways to track participation in their groups, and quick access tools for contacting different groups of members. I would like to be able to a) see on the member page when the last time was that a member attended an event and/or how many events the member has attended (right now that information requires viewing the individual members page which is extra clicks), and b) be able to quickly email members who have not attended an event in X amount of time to encourage their participation. Right now, we can only view and email members based on how often they've visited the website, which is very limiting.

I have spoken to several other organizers about this and they all agree that by giving members the option to RSVP without being taken to the full announcement page may be easier for our members, but more of a pain for us. We are spending far too much time answering emails to questions that are clearly answered in the announcement, People are so anxious to get into a Meetup they click on yes automatically and don't bother to click on the 'learn more' option. I have even asked on the setup page, have you read the full announcement? I'm always surprised at the number of people that say no.
