Similar to the already available business card making template - it would be nice to create membership cards so that members could identify themselves. I see this being especially valuable for taking advantage of perks.
Flexibility with the card would be key.
Group name & member name should be required.
Optional fields could include:
- member #
- member since
- title
- expiration date

As well as an option to list perks on the reverse and maybe a disclaimer to the effect that ultimately the company listed as providing the perk can change their mind at any time, despite what the card might say.

The purpose for this post is because we are looking to implement the same kind of automatic transaction that Meetup HQ uses to take Fees from Organizers bank account or credit cards. HQ sees the benefit in automatic transactions and so do we. By allowing organizers to have this type of option, it allows for Groups to have more flexibility to be able to run a more efficient meetup group with dues implementation. This is appealing to current and future organizers, entrepreneurs, and others who are volunteering their time to provide commond interest of events.

Membership dues through PayPal, Amazon or through personally taking monthly dues from each member works for the smaller groups because it is easier to have accountability.

Current Membership dues System Issue:

•Not all the members will have a PayPal or Amazon account.
•There is many issues when members manually having to make a payment through their PayPal or Amazon, and some chooses not to..
•Members are human and they can forget to make a payment.
•Not automatically withdrawn from the member’s bank account or credit card, which burdens organizers who have over 100 members to track on the paid and not paid list.
•No way for the current system to block a member who has not made payment from seeing future events and location or content of the group.
•The current system is mainly good for charging for events not membership dues.

Pros of Automatic Membership due withdraws:

•Happier organizers who are taking dues from their members
•This may turn more members into organizers because they can potentially generate revenue through their meetup groups to host better events.

Suggestions:

•Option to automatically withdraw membership dues from bank or credit card account should be granted to Groups with over 100 members.

I’m sure Meetup HQ understands why it is important to have a system that automatically withdraws dues from members account as they have implement the same system on the organizers. There are many benefits that comes from having this type of system. Please work with your IT guys to help make this suggestion a reality.

To all Organizers, Lets make this happen. Think about the possibility that could come from this. Less headaches, better events, more active members because they know they are paying for this group and there is value. Vote for this.

Having read a number of related posts, I see I am far from the only one who has some degree of concern here.

My little "added diversity" here is that I am in the greater Montreal area and do not have a car. On one hand, I understand that exact venue information would not be safe to be public, but on the other hand if I am going to join a group, I do not want to join a group I am likely to have difficulty getting to.

This has a significant difference in Canada from the U.S. comparing similar size cities, Canadian cities usually have much more developped urban transit systems, and they are apt to be less expensive as they are usually more heavily subsidised.

Consequently in proportion, there are likely to be more urbanites in Canada who do not have cars. Added to that the vagaries of winter weather, not knowing up front the degree of difficulty or ease to get to a given meetup can leave some prospects reticent just because of transportation issues. This also implicates the disabled, as some cites have extensive paratransit facilites for medically authorised people in wheelchairs or otherwise medically unable to use normal urban transit. I know of a number of such local cases, one being my own wife.

I create graphics that are specific to my meetup discussions. I was wondering if there is anyway possible to include these in my email alerts.

I have been doing this for years in my other email accounts and the response has been overwhelmingly received. I would love it if Meetup could also include these in my email alerts. Perhaps it would generate more interest in coming to our scheduled events.

Is there already a way Meetup can do this, or Is there a way this can be done?!?

I haven't seen anything on the faqs page about this addressed.
