allow us to see who from our group is currently online
It would be neat to see who from the groups we belong to are currently on line. Additionally, it would be great to be able to Instant Message them.

Do not like this idea.

As stated, the purpose of Meetup is to meet up not chat online or stalk people. I don't see the necessity for it - leave it for FB, etc. If it was done, then people need to be able to opt out of being tracked.

I would vote AGAINST this if I could. The FB/Twit pop-ups are neat enough already. I don't want to see nor be seen online in meetup. Members of my group try to log in and out quickly to meet in person. Online chatting runs counter to the goal of organizing events for more face-to-face time.

"Furthermore, the point of Meetup is to meet IN PERSON, not to spend more time online."
Well said Linda.

This is something I would want to opt out of for privacy reasons. I already have a couple of members in one of my groups keeping close tabs on my activities. They don't need the added bonus of knowing when I am online.

If not be able to see who is on-line at least update the last visited with a valid date time stamp. This could even be selectiable as an organizer only feature. For those that want an opt-out, Why? You got something to hide?

Unless there is an opt out for this it is invasive and creepy.

I would agree...the user should have an opt out for this.

If you do this, please make if possible for some of us to opt out of this. I would not be interested in being followed on line by others.
