What new feature would you like to see on Meetup, and why?

Expand on the custom email lists so that people could reply 'within' the custom list

It would be good to have a mailing list for certain members of the group so that you could have a conversation with 10-20 people without having to disturb the entire group with mails. The best example would be the leadership team, we currently have no way to have an email conversation between the leadership team without ccing everyone involved - this would be very useful.

Hate to say it but I just create a Yahoo group for the organizers. That way we can communicate apart from Meetup. It would be nice if they included it but until they do, Yahoo groups are easy to create and maintain.

I know this is an old request, but is there any plan to add this custom list reply option? Please let me know so we can investigate other options for handling this. We had two playgroups in our moms club and right now there is no way for the members in each group to reply back to each other when they sign up for scheduling or hosting. The current option is only to reply to the entire membership or to the person who sent the email. It is so confusing for both groups to get all emails or for the sender of the email to be the only one to see the reply meant for the custom list.

This would be very helpful for internal discussions of the leadership team in one of my groups. We are missing this feature very much.

It would also be good to be able to send emails to members who have only attended 1 meetup for example to try and encourage them to come to other events the group is doing.

I have found the custom email list to be time consuming and archaic. Besides having the option to put into different groups it needs to be much easier. My suggestion is for meetup to offer different options. 1. Group by Cities. I cannot possibly go through all my members and group them by Cities. 2. Option for Counties. I cannot possibly go through all my members and group them by individual Counties. I just needs to be easier for us as organizers.

@Paul: Thank you, yes, many leadership teams communicate well.
@Meetup: We need better tools for our Many Other sub-groups, please!!

Yes, please implement this! Right now, any list (other than the entire group) is only one way: not very useful. Customized email lists, at the very least Organizers should be allowed to reply to an "Organizer list"

Yes, I really need this for an advanced, PREPARED, and "can follow description instructions" hikers list. I've had the following things happen on hikes. Some of these are dangerous to whole group: Hikers showed up 1) without the amount of water I'd stated, 2) couldn't keep up with the group, so whole hike had to be changed, 3) ran out of water, 4) ran out of food, 5) asked others for water, 6) got too hot and slowed the group down, 7) didn't bring layers for warmth, 8) went off on their own and didn't stay with the group, 9) took a side trip and pulled other hikers out to do so, 10) showed up late, 11) canceled hike within a few days of event date, 12) were "no shows."

I would like to create a separate group so only the following can RSVP: hikers who have proven they are advanced, will show up prepared, and follow instructions.

Yes, we really need this as we tried to create an advanced climbers custom list to chat to each other but the lack of a reply all means that they cant do this through the meetup.

I agree. Maybe make a toggle on the members list to pick just people to e-mail. That would be the easiest way.

It would also be nice to be able to email members based on join date, gender and other data in their profiles.

Agree, just today I wanted to email only members that haven't paid dues and had to email the whole group....super inconvenient!

It would also be good if people could subscribe to certain open lists themselves and confirm their subscription to those lists by email.

Isn't this already in place? why would someone who didn't receive the e-mail (or how) want to answer it? The problem I see about the custom mailing list is that it's not organized to make it easy to create a new one. It's easy to add names to one, but almost impossible (very time consuming) to delete just one person from it, without deleting that person from the group. I"m an assistant organizer and I like to make my announcements to only certain members of the group. I do not have the authority to delete anyone from the mailing list.

Being able to email members who like a posted idea would be helpful. That way you can set up an event for just those people without having to email the whole group.

Good idea, power to opt in or opt out. The mailbox being as uncluttered or cluttered as you like it.
