add the ability to rotate photos during and after upload
Many photos are uploaded upside down and sideways, often without the person who's doing it even knowing it until they are already uploaded.
The vast majority of these situations could be avoided simply by having the Meetup webpage read the EXIF orientation tags that are embedded in the photos.
Most websites do this already, and with current technology, this should be standard imho. These tags are put in by smart phones and other devices to tell future photo viewing software how the photo is to be oriented. Since phones are being used for photos more and more, it would be nice to accomodate them.
I experience the problem like this: I take photos with my iPhone, then view them on my MacBook, and they are all right-side-up (because my phone and MacBook all read the EXIF tag). Then, I upload them to Meetup and they are all sideways or upside down!
While it would be nice to allow users to manually rotate photos once they are uploaded, even this tedious task could be easily avoided in most cases simply by utilizing the EXIF tag.
Enable a feature that allows you to rotate (90, 180 degrees, etc) individual photos once they've been uploaded to a photo album
Please Add Per Pix "Highlight" Option into New Meetup Interface! We want to upload more pix than we highlight on the front page's three. We'd like to highlight ourselves (and a few scene background pix, but not necessarily characters in a play we watched etc) but Meetup chooses for us. Please allow us to uncheck (don't rotate through) some pix, by picture. Thank you!!
Also, we'd like Seasonal Adjustment, two of the three for Recent Events past month, (not recent uploads, e.g. from last winter.)
As Enhancement, we'd like to choose into which of the three frames these uploaded pix would go.
To start, please let us DE-Select pix thru which to rotate, please. Thank you!!
I've uploaded an image that is in portrait format and appears correctly on my home computer but appears rotated in the photo library on the meetup page. There should be a rotate option in 90 degree steps right or left.
I use my iphone meetup app to upload photos directly from an event. What sometimes happens is that photo gets posted sideways. Offer option to rotate photo! (Facebook offers it!)
Please have an option to rotate member's profile photo after it is uploaded.
Use the rotation information on photographs or allow the group manager to rotate them online. Currently when you upload photographs with rotation information this information is not used...
You can now rotate photos when uploading them, or when selecting a different photo for your profile.
They say it was completed but it was not. They only added the ability to rotate a *profile* photo, which was not the main thing all these people were asking for for the last 2-3 years. I wrote email@example.com. I suggest everyone else do that, too. Warning- They just told me to create a new uservoice suggestion! LOL

I didn't see an option to rotate them while uploading. This is such a basic function -- please allow us to rotate photos after the upload!
Please add support to rotate pictures in albums after upload, they may appear ok on local devices and are shown rotated after uploading. With the number of different interfaces to support, i access meetup from iOS, Android and web, having the ability to fix via the web site view would at least allow people to fix those rotated images. Having the organizer able to do it at least would be a great start.

I agree with the above request, to be able to rotate pictures after upload. But how about MORE control ... ability to crop, adjust brightness/contrast ?
AND: please make it an ORGANIZER option whether pictures can be copied from out site !!!
Please fix this frustrating issue! Thank you!
Facebook allows you to rotate pictures. This should be an easy fix. I use Microsoft Photo Editor to rotate my iphone pics and when uploaded to meetup they are sideways... Putting in my vote to get this fixed!
This really needs to be fixed!
This really needs to be fixed!
This is under development currently.
Started on Jan 26, 2012 and they're still working on it?
How hard could it be to allow users to manually rotate their photos once they are uploaded?
Use 3 votes for this as my images (taken on an iPhone) are the correct orientation until I upload them to meetup.com -- it already takes enough time to select the ones I want to upload so I don't want to be going through a whole bunch of steps opening them up and resaving them in hopes that somehow the orientation will transfer correctly. Meetup needs to solve this -- 8 MONTHS SINCE THE REPLY SAYS ITS BEING WORKED ON!
I experience the problem like this: I take photos with my iPhone, then view them on my MacBook, and they are all right-side-up. Then, I upload them to Meetup and they are all sideways or upside down!
My understanding is there is some kind of meta tag in the photo file that tells the phone and computer and any technologically current website how the orientation of the photo is to be, and adjusts it automatically. Meetup needs to start using this technology!!! I don't even know they are upside down until I have already uploaded them!
Besides, why have us all to go to the trouble of adjusting every single photo indvidually when it is entirely unnecessary if the current technologies are being utilized?
Obviously, if this technology is being used, it will eliminate the need for the vast majority of photos to be rotated!
That being said, I also support being able to rotate a photo once it's uploaded - perhaps by the one who uploaded it or by the organizers. Cause, you never know...

You can rotate your own photos with everything from, phone, camera, free utilities (IrfanView), to Photoshop. I have uploaded many hundreds of photos from various cameras and phones to multiple meetup groups. I have never seen a sideways or upside-down photo, ever.
Is anyone listening?? Rotating a photo can't be THAT hard.

I agree, this would be great!
Specially when showing the great mounting hiking photos to colleagues on Monday!
I was really surprised that this basic function was not included. I mean, REALLY surprised.
We need to be able to rotate pictures!!!
I host a meetup group and it drives me crazy when someone uploads a picture sideways and I have noway of correcting it. This is a feature that is needed. Please help. Thanks
Yes we need to be able to rotate pictures after they are uploaded. Many viewers handle the rotating when viewing so it is hard to tell if the picture should be rotated before it is uploaded.
