What new feature would you like to see on Meetup, and why?

Allow organizers more than 3 groups

Allow organizers to pay for more than three (3) groups on one (1) email account. I two (2) accounts with six (6) groups and switching between accounts is a total PITA and I frequently RSVP other's meetups with the wrong account.

Of course if you address issue[1] then this issue becomes mostly moot.

I doubt a 10-pack will meed my needs. Right now I have 5 meetup groups under two email addresses. I imagine a 10-pack would be too expensive. Why don't you just charge a fee per meetup group, instead of grouping them?

@CitizenGold Don't get me started... All I can say, I guess, is it is what it is.

I bet you could open a support ticket. Tell 'em Sid sent you. I have a contact, but going through Support would probably be the best bet.

TooTallSid, I'm not finding any options for the "chapterization" plan. Can you provide linkage?

Also, blocks of 10 sounds like a gouge. I've been running my meetups for 4 years now and have just needed to add a 3rd account for the 7th meetup. Having to hold all those unused extras would be more of a pain than going for the multiple accounts I currently have.

Meetup can't exactly be struggling for money. I fail to see why they're unable to have the current system (3 groups as a base) and add extra groups to the account, one at a time, as needed. Add discount incentives to go for bulk groups.

Meetup now offers a "chapterization" plan. Currently this means you can be an organizer for up to 10 groups. You pay for all 10, whether you are there or not, and you are billed monthly. This now works quite well for us. Our only complaint is that we need to buy another block of 10! Fortunately, there are two of us running our corporate user group, so my partner signed up for the program and now we can do 20.

If you are interested, try putting in a support request and ask for the chaperization plan.

Check out our Meetup.com user group page:

Meetup.com really works well for this. Even though we are putting up a bunch of communities soon using Lithium.com, we will continue to do meetings through meetup.com

I agree that it's good to keep it where you get at least three groups with your account, because it encourages people starting one group, to start additional ones. I also agree that there should be a way to increase the number of groups on that account, either by charging for each additional or a bundle price per extra 3 groups.

This is important to me. I have two accounts, and all 6 meet-ups are active. One account in which I generate leads for a business that I own, and another account where I explore personal interests. I would prefer to only have one account with different privacy settings. And instead of capping the meet-up groups, charge al fee for each group after 3 to prevent spam.

I suggested this a time ago, when i was running 6 groups. so now i just increase the groups area in the title, as i ended up having to double rsvp, and other crap perhaps you could charge, say 5 for additional group, as i get chapters that go out of the state it would grow.

Expansion. Good. It would be nice to have the option.

I know this is billing code, but it does mean increase revenue. And with this, you could start a marketing campaign to sell Meetup.com for user groups for organizations. We are using it for that and it works very well. Except for this billing issue.

We are using meetup to help organize our corporate user groups. It is working fantastically. We have 5 and plan to do about 20. However, starting them up is a pain because I have to abdicate to a customer, who then has to pay.

We would HAPPILY pay multiples of the organizer fees if you could just let me have more than 3 groups - like about 30!

Come on - we're partners here. Please make it easier to use you!

i want to keep my 3 for 1 pricing..... i hope that basic rate doesn't change

      • Miguel AMiguel A commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I definitely support the possibility of organizing more than 3 groups with one email account - I don't mind if the charge is per group, or per 3-group packages, or per additional group after the first 3.

I currently run 7 meetup groups, it's basically 1, but I'm trying to run it in 7 different cities in New England.

        1. Not only do I have the same problem logging in and out to make simple, one minute changes, but I also have other, more serious problems.

        2. I tried making all my master accounts co-organizers of all groups, which then forces me to "attend" all of the events, which then shows members who are considering joining or who have just joined, to either not sign up or leave the group. The turnover rates are retarded. I've had people leave comments asking why there are 3 of me. This creates mistrust between me and potential members. This is seriously bad and it's hurting my reputation as an organizer.

        3. More annoyingly, I JUST GOT 24 EMAILS promoting some stupid "perk" I don't give two flaps about!

Enough is enough! I have complained about this before and I will continue to complain about this until it is resolved. I paid for accounts and your system is hurting what I'm trying to do. A simple "Sorry, there's nothing we can do!" does not suffice.

I'll probably login to my other accounts so I can use another 3 votes here! Why not? I paid the money.
