GPS Phone feature to locate attendees at a meetup
Some social media apps already do this - allow users to become "visible" to others on a map, using their phone's GPS. A big problem with a lot of meetups is actually finding the group attendees when part of a larger event. If meetup attendees could click this as an option when they check in, then the organizer and other attendees could more easily find each other, see where people are meeting, etc. by clicking a link to a "Meetup Map" just for that event. Of course you would have to click to be visible, so if you don't want to be seen, you don't have to be.
This is an excellent idea, as a new member and new to the area I was left behind, i texted the leader whom I thought was on the hike, meeting up with the group would have been accomplished Instead I was encouraged to take the hike alone. Bad call
Good Idea the biggest problem is finding people when you get there. Esp when its your 1st meet
I like this idea a lot! I just ran across it while searching for something else. Yours is very unique and could really come in handy for many of my group's meetups so I am voting on it.
