make it possible to update email settings for all meetups at once.
I recently wanted to turn off email notifications for my meetups and learned that I have to customize every one of them individually. That's quite a pain in the toukas!

Rather than spend forever turning off notifications/emails so that I could just come to the site to see new events or, better yet, pull them directly from my gCal, I decided to delete my account. Feeling a sense of relief in doing so does not bode well for the service.

If someone is a member of many meetups, not having this option makes turning off notifications extremely tedious.
The option for universal notifications changes would make life for users much easier.

I basically said the same thing in another thread: "Or how about one global turn off ALL emails rather than having to customize every group. Think about it - most people belong to more than one Meetup. Allow me the ability to turn off all communications without having to go to every group and tweak the settings. Do you have any user experience designers on staff? It sure doesn't look like it! Also it would really help if you actively updated the progress on these tickets. Not hearing from Meetup staff over a year for something is ridiculous.".
TWO YEARS to hear back from Meetup on this. Ridiculous for what is essentially a UI feature they can change. If I was a paying customer I would quit paying for it.

this problem is so irritating that I have stopped joining new groups. it takes over 15 clicks to unsub to the default settings in email.

I agree also.
No matter how settings are configured (whether settings are held per-meetup like it is now or based on default templates later on, perhaps), there should be at the very least a switch that basically ENABLE/DISABLE NOTIFICATIONS in general.
This would be really useful in, for example, my case. I'm travelling abroad for 3 months, so I don't want to receive any notifications for meetups for the 3 months (I DISABLE NOTIFICATIONS)
Once I'm back, I RE-ENABLE NOTIFICATIONS, respecting the notifications settings per-meetup that I've specified before. -

I totally agree with this - if some kind of UI can be invented so there's a sense of "mission control" and at the same time, a sense of individual customization for particular groups that require it.

Even though it's a pain, there are good reasons for being able to turn off some and keep others on, so if you add this functionality, be sure to keep the current option as well.

Good god. Please do this. I went out of town and had to manually turn off notifications for EVERY group I've joined.

I totally agree with this. I was in hospital this year and was recouperating for a few months after and so wanted to turn off notifications for a period of time but had to trawl through all my groups to do so and then repeat when I was back in the social hub!! I seriously thought of not setting them back - it took forever.

Has this been fixed?????? Better control of email settings and notifications
I am part of many meetups. I would like to be able to set my email settings for as many or all groups at the same time since most likely they will be the same settings. There should be a select all option as well as an option to check off which groups to apply the settings to then hit submit.

I too receive emails despite unchecking email boxes. E.g. I am not attending any meetups for this group, and yet I received:
"Your Event Organizer, ***, sent the following message to some members of..."
I should only be receiving emails for meetups I am attending or attended, and no mailing list emails or message board emails.

This seems fairly obvious to me, though I do appreciate being able to TAILOR the preferences. There should be a global option first, then the option to tailor.

I HAVE 7 PAGES OF MEETUPS AND STIL HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO GO THROUGH EACH AND EVERY ONE TO TURN OFF THE CHECKBOX FOR THE ANNOYING FACEBOOK/TWITTER POPUP!!!
Also, there should be a default to apply to new Meetups you join so it will default to NO.

Yes, Please! I belong to many meetup groups and navigating around to change all my meetup settings takes me 20+ minutes, when it should take less than 1!

E-mail options are the least user-friendly feature of Meetup. This needs a complete overhaul.
