Change search function to eliminate "Why doesn't my new group show up?" questions
Problem: Newly-created groups exist in a state of limbo for 3-5 days pending approval. During this period the group doesn't show up via search, resulting in frequent complaints on these forums from angry/confused Organizers.
Solution: Change the search function logic so unapproved groups will show up in search -- for the Organizer only! Display the result with a prominent "Pending Approval" flag. When the organizer clicks on their new group within the search results, send them to a documentation page that explains the limbo status (and has a direct link to their new group). This should create a better experience for newbie organizers.
When Organizers search for their newly created group, they will be able to see that their group is pending review.

Excellent information! I just started a new group today - my first one, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't search for it. Your post was the only information I could find on it! Thanks for setting my mind at ease.

Greg, that's a wonderful idea! It must be more efficient than having Meetup staff respond to scores of posts asking "Where's my group?" every week, and, as you stated, eliminate much confusion and frustration for new organizers.

I goofed up the suggestion title and it won't let me edit, so perhaps moderator can truncate it to: Change search function to eliminate "Why doesn't my new group show up?" questions
