        From the iPhone app, add a subscribe button. I don't want to click a button about 2mmx2mm to subscribe.

        Don't know if this feature was added after this request, but it already exists on the iPhone, at least in IOS 6. At the bottom of the calendar screen is an option to subscribe to a feed with iCal. Just open the calendar in Safari on your device and touch that iCal link; then just subscribe with the prompt.
