add an option to members profile setting that prevents news of what I and others like me are doing or not doing in the "What Happening' list... It's no-ones business what functions I say yeah or nay to.... I'ts getting to the point where I'm showing up 'unanounced' at functions because I don't want to get my stuff 'posted'
We don’t plan on making any changes to the ‘Whats Happening’ feed at this time.

I'm at the point of not wanting to post anything! I like my group but not the way meetup.com does me. It's forcing me to reveal my location by giving my zip code and Posting the information for all to see! announcing when I am going to a meetup is a statement my house might be vacant during that time. I don't want to quit my group but I sure do not like having a 'profile' here :/
to meetup.com: More PRivacy Please! -

Although it may be annoying to get that extra "publicity" from the "what's happening" listing, remember that any member of your groups can still see what event you may have RSVP'd by simply checking the current listing. It should make you realize that sites like this can put your security at risk by anyone who might wish to do you wrong (especially if they do some "research" and find where you live). With this added info they now know when and where you might be!
I object to people tagging you and posting unflattering pics that you are unable to delete from your profile pics.... -

I agree with Victor
if I see myself in that publicly viewed list I am quitting this site immediately!
Telling people when you won't be home is very stupid.
PLEASE DO NOT POST OUR ZIP CODES!
I joined a PRIVATE group .. is it really private?
the greetings posted to my profile make me think it isn't.
Some one said, their private group's members are listed in google?!
time for them to call a lawyer :(
UNTIL YOU STOP SHOWING MY ZIP CODE
I WILL NEITHER SUGGEST OR ATTEND ANY MEETUPS -

@Melissa, Organizers have some options regarding what acitibity appears on the group's home page. If you're an organizer, check your group settings. If you're not, tell your groups' organizers that they can adjust the activity feed. Then it's up to them whether they want to change it or not.

I am wondering if a privacy attorney was consulted on this. Showing a memeber's name, picture, and where they will be at what time, is a "craigslist" issue waiting to happen. If an attorney was consulted, meetup may want to look into a second opinion.
