Allow webinars (i.e. virtual meetups) as an option to supplement face to face meetings
We have face to face meetings, but for educationally focused groups it is useful to also have virtual meetups using webinars, especially for those not in a local area who cannot attend the face to face meetings but are interested in connecting. Why not add this capability?

We have this need to... we have open to all IRC planning meeting for our Meetups. It would be nice to have the IRC info remembered as a "venue" so it could be selected for a meetup.
This could be as simple as just allowing Non-location venues that are only text based.

I think there is a big future in virtual conferences / events - traveling and parking can be a bitch, time-consuming and expensive. For the more technical stuff that is not so much about socialising it is far more efficient to watch the presentation online, then be able to group chat / IM with the group and the speaker from home and join a group discussion that is archived on the meetup page. I live 1 hour from SF so it may cost me $30 in parking PT or fuel and possible 3 additional hours to get maybe, a snippet of good information. It would even be a great future to double up for real meetups for all the online people who can't make it.
