Enpower the "poll" option
-At the moment just 12 lines are allowed in the poll option, if you need to ask for more than 12 choices, you can't use this feature.
-What about thinking a way to obtain an univocal vote eg. not by using a cookie but your meetup Email identity, with a time interval to open-close the poll...etc..?
To maximize turn-out, I'd like to poll my group members the best days, times, weather, venues, etc they are most likely able to meet.
But, since Polls are not mandatory and seem to be designed as an after-thought, only few members ever bothered to fill them out.
I think a good way to enhance the polling function, so that it gets more exposer (therefore bringing in more votes), would be to add the "feature" and "announce" options that are on scheduled meetups to the poll.
The poll tool is incredible but the only thing that I would add is an option after creating it to email the members about the poll and let them know there's something to vote on. Otherwise, it just sits there on the web page and members may not know about it.
Members can't find them where they are located and posting a comment in a discussion about a new poll is useless now that discussions are at the very bottom of the page.
When I post a poll for everyone to vote, not many people are aware of it so I'd like to have the option to email it out if possible.
Add the option to put your poll(s) on the home page (manage modules) or at least give them their own tab along the top.
I put up polls to see what kind of event the members are interested in. If I could see who voted, and what they voted for, I could contact members based on their specific interest in a particular subject. Or I could contact those I know who are interested in a subject to see if they're interested in organizing an event for that subject. Or I could collect more useful demographic info by allowing them to vote level of interest (1-10) in a subject.
as it stands, the polls have very limited usefulness.
check how this is done on YahooGroup... one poll option is to see username for each item they voted for ... even that would improve the function a LOT. if I could see each individual voter's vote details, that would be PERFECT.
An organizer should have the option to record polling votes by user. Nonprofits that are required by law to maintain minutes need this option.

You could just send an email out to your whole group with a link to the poll page.
Can't get the poll function to work except to create a poll. Can't see a way to email the poll to members.
That's a great idea, being able to assign a poll to a specific meetup.
Totally agree Jacqueline. The current feature is like having a great information tool, but it's tucked away and no one hears about it. I'd also suggest a meet up specific pop up reminder that the member has to answer the poll. Here are my thoughts. When a meet up group member clicks on any page and that meet up group has a poll, a pop up window is displayed reminding or nitofying the member to answer the poll.
Why can't you use the feature? You can have more than one poll.

I agree Mary. They aren't useful at all the way it is...

As an organizer it would be great to have our current polls in their own box right on the meetup group home page. You have to look too hard to find the polls and it makes them difficult to promote. Thanks! Please vote for this suggestion!

I'd be happy with only organizers being able to see who voted,
Hi - while I understand this request, perhaps modify it so that the poll is set to be either confidential or not, and once posted, that it be clear if responses are confidential. You will get more honest feedback if they are confidential. If you want the person's name, either their response isn't confidential by entering their name or keep it confidential by not entering their name.
