Allow GPS coordinates, trailheads, landmarks, etc. for meetup locations.
Allow GPS coordinates, trailheads, landmarks, etc. (places without a physical address) for meetup locations.
This is now possible. On a Meetup page, anyone w/ Organizer permissions for that Meetup will see an ‘edit map’ link next to the address. Map positioning can be specified by lat/lon or by moving map pointer.

I don't see anything there! Very annoying not being able to update the addresses or add new ones.

Agree with Benny. it doesn't seem to be there anymore. If it ever was.

Where is this "edit map" link? I am an organizer, but I don't see it. Can you help? Thanks.

Seems that when I edit the map location, it reverts. (I am listed as an Asst. Organizer for my group) Can I add new locations somehow in Meetup so that multiple trailhead connections to major roads in large urban parks can be clarified?

OK, that link needs to be more descriptive.
I have to agree with Steven C, we should have the option of entering either an address or GPS coordinates - without the city, etc, or both. An invalid address, just to satisfy the interface, is probably not a good idea.

Fixed? Not! Please explain how one can enter a GPS location WITHOUT having to enter a city/state/zip code?
Or try this: create a meetup that meets at the Whitney Portal Trail Head in the Sierras and show us how you did it, Greg. Let me make it easier for you: "36.586895,-118.239909".
Or how about this one: Enter a meetup that occurs in Mono Lake South Tufa Visitor Center. It's in California. Nearest major town is Lee Vining. June Lake and Mono Mills are "nearby" too.
By the way, that map marker is not always editable.
Sadly, the underlying data for the venue IS a GPS coordinte... just can't enter it through the user interface provided.
This idea is not "Completed".

The editable map is a good thing, but you still need the address and many participants just plug in the address in their gps's and do not check the map... Many places do not have the physical addresses and we need to be able to schedule a meetup without an actual address, BUT ONLY with a map location, or gps coordinates.

A for effort, C- for implementation because it appears that I have to post the meetup for all to see and then change the location were everyone meets? We need to be able to enter GPS coordinates when we are creating the meetup, not just after it's posted.
Or did I miss some functionality?

Wow. I entered this idea almost a year ago and still no progress. Our group is still in the same boat: trying to direct people to a remote location with no physical address and fighting with the map to at least get something in the general area. Our last meet was at a place called Lake Pleasant. The best I could do was a marker in the middle of the lake. Not very helpful.

I am frustrated by the lack of response by Meetup. What options do we have for progress, suggestions, change, if not through here? Many of us are paying members of Meetup, yet, our opinions and request for change have gone unanswered.
I am unimpressed.

And don't forget to allow "No specific location" or "location only disclosed to attendees" in the process! And there is a separate thread on allowing "Online" meetups (location = Online). That should also be an option.

Why no movement on this issue?

Agree that this is needed. Our kayaking group launches from locations that do not correspond with a physical address. I don't have GPS coordinates either but would like to be able to put a red "pin" (flag, whatever) on the map at the correct location.

I have been asking and pushing for this for many months, with no solution or real response yet. I moved my votes here from a similar post where they sat ignored for 6 months. I am the organizer of a multisport group. Many of our meetups are at locations that DO NOT HAVE AN ADDRESS, such as trails, rural areas, etc. Please let us either choose the location on a map or use coordinates.

Just tried to add a meetup location for a switchback on a side rd. Total fail. Please allow GPS coordinates.

Hello Meetup Admins :)
This suggestion is ranked 8th & it seems easy enough to implement....any word on the status? Is this being considered yet?
Thank you!!!
