Monitor the use of the 'Meetup' name off-site for profit
To me 'Meetup' now is a brand, and when I read that associated with an event, I understand it to mean free-or-almost-free-community-gathering. I can't seem to find anything on the website that might explain if that's changed and now it includes three-digit-cost events too. But I find it confusing when the name is used by organizations for events that don't seem to link to the Meetup site. In this one they call it a MeetUP, so maybe the capitalization is enough of a difference to allow them to use the brand?
I had to dig to figure out that it costs $ 199 (or min. $50) to attend. Waste of time. I the email and burrowed into the links because of the 'Meetup' name and assumed I could afford it.
