Send a weekly email with upcoming events over the next month instead of reminder emails
We sometimes have 15-20 events per month and with 2 week, 1 week and 1 day reminders, the email count gets overwhelming for some members (even when disabling reminders on some recurring events). This problem drives some members away. Solve this high email count issue with an option to replace reminders with a weekly email that would include all events in the upcoming month (or 2 weeks as the member prefers). It would be good though to leave intact the 1 day reminders for members who have RSVPd Yes or Maybe.
This is now available as on http://www.meetup.com/account/comm/ as the weekly calendar email.

+1 here too. or at the very least, give us a true daily digest for all communications within each group...

Great idea! The email volume is preventing a lot of groups from growing to where they should be, because people are dropping out to avoid the email.

What is the timeline on this? My members are drowning in meetup announcements and they just delete everything and don't read the important stuff. Please put this together so we can send less email. Thx.

Please make the email LOOK like it came from a specific group. In other words, use the groups colors and logo to really grab attention.
I'm not trying to hurt your feeling, but the red/white and blue reminder emails are terribly bland, boring and do not grab attention.
Let organizers add their colors and "look" to the weekly wrap up.
Thanks for reading this.

I also vote for a weekly email. PLEASE. My group has about 5 events per week, every week of the year. The reminders are confusing, overwhelming, and drive people away.

Yes, I agree... it is SO overwhelming to constantly get 20 emails a day.. I have accidentally deleted a few important emails because I was deleting the chunk of pointless Meetup reminders. I'd rather just go on Meetup and check the calendar when I want to do something.
Please at least let people opt out of receiving all of these reminder emails! Ah!

We have a 550 member group with approx 3 events/week. Out of the 550, only around 100 members are really active. I wouldn't want the other 450 to be able to opt out of emails all together, but for them to choose to get a digest every week instead sounds good (every fortnight and some wouldn't get them on time as we don't always post way in advance). Our group is for people to actually hang out together and the others who are just joining to peek in and never attend I rather do without, so I don't really care if they are bothered by emails. Get off our members roster then!

I only want to receive reminders for events to which I've RSVP'd Yes. If I'm not going, I don't need a reminder! I also want to choose whether to receive an email for new events. In summary. I'd rather receive NO emails unless it's for an event I'm attending. I can visit my page anytime and see what's coming up in my calendar. The calendar is GREAT because I can see events for all my meetups in one place, which makes it easier for me to choose from multiple events on the same day. I also like that it shows that I've RSVP'd to events.

The meetup email volume is a big problem for members, and causes people to turn off the email feature and drop out of meetup, which then impairs communication with the members. Meetup definitely needs to design in more flexibility for organizers on these automted emails, like ability to schedule a reminder email on a per event basis, stop inquiries on "how was the meetup".

Once a week reminder list of the events of the week is enough of a reminder for me.

This is a fantastic idea. I actually ended up turning off all reminders for events because I was getting complaints but then people didn't know what was going on and I had to turn them back on. Once I turned them back on there was a noticeable increase in members leaving the group. People hate all these emails. And when they are getting so many I think they tend to not even bother reading them. So it's annoying people and it's not being effective. Please give us the option of sending reminders about individual events or changing to a once a week email. For really active groups this would really help.

Please allow organizers to decide when event email is sent. Thank you!

Please! Most members leave due to too much email/ too many events, when they list a reason. Prefer 3 DAY reminder. (Plus 10 day reminder.) Thank you!!

Agreed, way too many email reminders. One email a couple days before would be sufficient.

Either this or how about a way each member can click on an event and tell it to not remind them anymore about it? I know you can say you're not coming, but then your personal member page gets updated with lots of events you're not going to. Which seems pointless; I'd rather people know about what I am doing than what I'm not.

Strongly disagree. I consider it essential that individual emails are sent. They are very effective in promoting my meetup events.
