I am closing my group because I do not like dealing with the new format. And just because someone suggests a meetup doesn't mean meetup should put them as going if it decided to make it a meetup simply because a few others liked the idea. I will now use FB to organize gatherings. It is easy to use and free. If I'm going to pay for a site, it should be easy to use.

Add friend requests for users to stay in touch & see eachothers upcoming events in common.
it's too hard to keep in touch with all the cool folks I meet at different MeetUps. If we could send each other friend requests through MeetUp (like FaceBook) it'd be easier to reconnect, and cross promote groups. Why give FB all your traffic, I'd network here more if you enabled it! Thx :)

MAYBES are now NO SHOWS? With these changes to MeetUp, people who have previously RSVP's to events with a MAYBE (these MAYBE rsvp's go back to 2008 in my group) are now showing up as NO SHOWS in their Member Stats. I'm the Owner/Lead Organizer of my grouops and I have NEVER NO SHOW'd. Suddenly, I have 13 NO SHOWS?! No, I had 13 MAYBEs that have been magically converted into NO SHOWS. Ridiculous. Fix This NOW!

Start a 9-11 magazine.
A 9-11 magazine can get different ideas as to why 9-11 happened. Horoscopes and all.

Create a way to force members to read the About Page in its entirety before being able to join
I get dozens of emails each week making suggestions or asking questions about things that are already clearly covered in the About Page, Welcome Letter, and Event Details. Such as "why don't you go to this theater" (which is significantly outside our geographic area), "how about this idea" (which is completely unrelated to our group's mission), "how do we buy tickets", "where are you going", "what time", "what are you seeing", etc.
I waste so much time answering these emails when all the info is already out there.
Suggestion: how about implementing a feature that forces people to read the…

allow pictures within meetups again!
The map feature isn't all that. A picture is worth so much when you want people to come on a new hike or to attend a new place. A picture gets higher attendance.

Make it so organizers get auto-notifications when events created - So we know the invite has worked!
When I create an event, I never know "for sure" if the invitation went out successfully to Meetup members or what it looked like in the email message members receive. By default I'd also like to receive the invitation -- so that I know it went out successfully to members and so that I can see how it looks!

provide a way for members of a particular meetup group to help pay for the costs so I person doesn't
The organizer of the meetup pays for the meetup and if they cannot afford to pay this cost, they are then saddled with the additional responsibility of getting the group to help. I think meetup should help the group support the payment of the meetup site by allowing members to contribute to the group that way it makes it easier on the meetup leaders and more likely that meetup groups will continue.

there are a LOT of groups still lsted that are not still meeting - or so it seems...this does seem to be a bit confusing.too hard to find meetings except for the 1 02 2 that really have to keep up on itno meetings, lease remove

Add a 'Location' tab that would come up ALPHABETICALLY by LOCATION on the Member search data page
Providing this tab will enable Organizers and any member who becomes an event host a few things
1) to plan events that might provide higher attendance. ..... If an Organizer/Event Host is able to see where the majority of the ACTIVE members (ones who visit the site frequently) are located it will be easiest to cater to them at least most of the time
2) It will provide Organizers/Event Hosts with the ability to try to include non-majority ACTIVE members.
3) It will alert Organizers to members who might be in the group (NON-ACTIVE members) where it is not realistic…7 votes -

Offer option for organizers to hide our EM address when we send out group EM (vs just to one member)
Offer the option for organizers to hide our personal e-mail address when we send out group e-mail for new events, etc. (as opposed to just to one member). Having so many people see my address opens my computer up to spam and viruses.
