One tiny adjustment of the existing visual format could greatly enhance the visibility of groups and profit Meetup.com and groups alike. Currently, on all Meetup group home pages, the upcoming meetup event is collapsed. It causes the entire body of the page to be dominated by text, which doesn't allow a group to market itself with eye catching material. And, by extension, it makes Meetup.com look dated/boring/primitive/oldschool. A customizable banner is such a small portion of the page it's relatively inconsequential. A web page dominated by text may appeal to info-centric minds, like geeks – and geeks are great – but not so much the general public. Maximizing appeal to the general public is the key to growth for Meetup.com and it’s groups.

A simple solution is to allow the upcoming meetup event previewed in the body of the home page to be open instead of collapsed. That way images in the event description can provide the sorely lacking eye candy in the body of the page, and grab the attention of viewers. Research has shown a post with a picture is up to 60-percent more likely to get looked at and read than text-only entries.

I’m not suggesting that the home page defaults to a scheduled meetup’s separate page. I’m only suggesting the scheduled meetup appear in the BODY of the home page as it does now, but open (or, un-collapsed). Nothing else would change about the home page;‘What's New’, ‘New Photos’, comments and ‘RSVP’s of the home page would still appear in the right sidebar.

What is the point of collapsing the upcoming meetup event on a home page anyway? All that follows it are Recent Events. Anyone who cares about Recent Events can just as easily scroll down to them when they’re done looking at the more important information for an upcoming event. An un-collapsed upcoming event is more convenient for ALL viewers, new or old, because it saves two steps of first noticing, and then clicking, ‘LEARN MORE’.

How about making this simple overdue idea happen, Meetup? I’d love to hear back from you on it. Thank you for reading.

It really annoys me that there isn't a page on Meetup.com where I can view (and ONLY view) the meetups that I've RSVP'ed for. I don't want to view a list of all meetups available for me to RSVP (ones that I haven't even yes Yes or No to attend). I want to see only the meetups that I've RSVP'ed for either Yes or No, since either of those require me to actually click something and confirm. I RSVP'ed for a lot of meetups at the same time and it's difficult for me to track what I'm supposed to be attending. Yes, I know I can add things to my calendar. But i'd prefer not to clutter my calendar with meetups. I'd much rather just have a page that gives me a list of the meetups I've RSVP'ed for.

If a page that contains a list of all of the meetups that I've RSVP'ed for is already available, then you guys made it really difficult to find because I've spent at least an hour looking for it without luck.

It would be incredibly helpful for me, as an organizer, to be able to post notes to a member's profile that only I (and my co-organizers, or assistant organizers) can see. This would allow the leadership team to share/record important information about individual members that would help us to run the group.

For example, having "organizer notes" would help me to keep track of the "no show" warnings given to a member as per my groups "no show policy". That way I can see when and how many warnings were given. It would also help to keep track of basic information - such as preferences (dietary, allergies, etc), birthdays, availability (vacations), etc.

My group's leadership team regularly sends emails to individual members in the group regarding group policies, and it would be good for us to be able to share this information with one another via the member's profile through "organizer notes".

I would greatly appreciate it being implemented if possible!

We would like HQ to consider adding "Event Host" as an assigned member role option. I am aware Event Hosts can be added to any event or the person who suggested a meetup can be assigned Event Host for that particular event, and even blank drafts can be set up with anyone assigned as an Event Host to log in and fill in the details.

But we have several members who announce and host regular classes/workshops on our site. We would like the option to give these people a permanent Event Host role, just like the other member roles, and the option to assign or remove it as we see fit, to allow certain people in our group to schedule and announce meetups that only they facilitate without having to go through the "suggested meetup" process and being assigned the event host by an organizer each and every time they suggest something.

We do not want to give them Event Organizer roles (currently the role with the least controls) because they would still have the ability to edit other people's meetups and access the group email feature and we don't like that. We only want to give certain people the ability to create, schedule and announce their own events without them having access to anything else.

Not sure if this would be a valuable option but we envision this role could fall last in the hierarchy of member roles, underneath the Event Organizer, with the barest minimum of controls for announcing single events on their own with no access to any other site controls, other than the ability to edit their own meetups and RSVP lists and email their own attendees from inside their meetups. We would NOT want them to have the ability to email the entire group.
