Organizer Options - Branded vs Non-Branded sites!
I have a really big request that should be taken to meetups executive office as quick as possible. This is a win-win for meetup.com and organizers because it will grow meetup.com's revenues and make organizers more happy!
3 Parts Here: (in order of importance)
1.) Offer an Upgrade. A "Non-Branded" site option where an organizer can pay an upgraded (monthly) charge that simply allows the organizer to "Hide" certain advertising sections, including:
• the "We're about:" section
• the "People in this Meetup are also in:" section
• and the entire Meetup header and footer bars with all the links…11 votes -
Enable seperate PayPal/amazon accounts per meetup
Currently if you Organize multiple groups under one account all payments can only go to one paypal account. I need to be able to define a different pay pal account per group. You need to move the account specification to the meetup group not the account.

Wave or reduce the organizer fees for the first 6 months of a group startup.
The fees are pretty steep if the organizer isn't sure a group will make it. I'm currently part of a running group that uses google groups (which is free) for all their communications. I'd be interested to see how the group would feel about a transition to meetup but I don't want to fork out the fees just for a test drive.

We need more options to pay for an event, organizer dues, or perks , i.e.: credit cards, PayPal, Bank transfer, etc.
The more options we have to pay or to accept payments - more flexible we will be and faster we'll grow. Any benefits for Meetup Inc. around? I see many. An ocean is made up of many single rivers/creeks/springs - isn't it?

I think organizers should be paid a fee by Meet Up for all the work they do for your organization. It is very hard and time-consuming work.
Since organizers do the work that keeps Meet Up going and since it's hard and time consuming work, I think Meet Up should pay a reasonable fee to organizers, rather than charging them. Meet Up can get the money to do this by charging a nominal sum to all its members, in order for them to join any Meet Up group.

Monitor accounts that actively promote solely commercial interests
Terms of Service Section 5.3 (a) (v) "Grounds for Removal, Sanction and/or Suspension. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Agreement, the following types of actions are cause for immediate removal, repeal and/or suspension or termination of your account:" (v) "advertise merchandise, auctions, services or commercial websites, including offers to trade or charitable solicitations unrelated to the topic or spirit of the Meetup Group or Meetup Everywhere"
However note (just as an example):

Add more options to the "record dues" table
I would like more options when recording membership dues. As of now the only options are to record the members name, date, and $.
I would like to add the start and end date that the payment pays for.
Also I would like for it to auto email when membership is almost due.
Then suspend member when that date arrives and members payment has not been received.IE:
Mary Smith/
Received payment/
$6/
On june 17th 2012/
Active July 1 2013/
Next due date Jan 1 2013/
Auto email will be sent 4 week prior or when ever organizer sets…5 votes -
I suggest you add internet banking as a payment option.
Hi
I want to start a new group but see that the only option there is is to pay by credit card. I don't keep a credit card.

Create a "registration list"
We have some events that require third party registration but it's hard to manage. When we put "attendee limit 1" it helps to manage the list, but people think they are on a true waiting list when in reality they are there as it requires their action! (ie register on another website). It would be great to help on that.

Allow sponsors to pay directly through meetup.
I don't want to bear the burden of paying for meetup for the entire group. It would be nice if our sponsors could donate money directly to our meetup page through pay pal. That way I don't have to ask them to write a personal check made out to me... that is awkward! Then the meetup dues could be paid directly from that account. We want the group to remain free to members to remain accessible to all families in the area.

Add a MANDATORY DUES checkbox feature to the BASIC settings.
The fact that Meetup does not have a feature to require payment
of dues as part of the enrollment process creates lots of
problems and turns organizers into bill collectors. No wonder
I've received nasty emails from would-be members wanting to
know why the website allows them to register if dues are
mandatory.Could Meetup PLEASE add a MANDATORY DUES features checkbox to
the BASIC settings?4 votes -
Make it easy to collect dues/donations
Even if an Organizer posts dues or requets for donations, they still have to constantly remind/ask members and then manually record who paid what and when. How can you make it easy on the Organizer(s)? It is the #1 reason I am stepping down as "Organizer" (your title, not mine)

Add a Group Store page where organizers can offer goods for sale to members
Rather than charge our members' dues we offer them products for purchase. The money we raise from our events and from selling goods are used to fund the meetup and provide food and beverages at events. There is no easy way to offer products to our members using the Meetup interface. Please add a page where organizers can post goods for sale and a provide a shopping cart service for members to check out using Amazon payments or PayPal. Similar to how they pay for events. Meetup.com can take a small service charge like eBay does when goods are sold…

Price changes based on # of guest
For some event's the price is determined by the number of guest attending. Generally the higher the # RSVP's that go the lower the price is at the venue. My suggestion is to factor that in, ie event host can set a price that if 5 people attend the price lowers to X amount, if the rsvp's change to 10 people, the price changes again to reflect the new cost. This can also work in reverse, that if you need a Min # of guest to attend and that # is not met then you can set it to cancle…

Make Donations a LOT simpler
Right now I have limited Character space to promote donations and it has to be the same link for member fees.
There absolutely needs to be a separate donations option so we dont have to be so confusing by mixing the two. Not everyone is going to understand that Membership Fee's is where I can submit donations.
