Make a sort of "wishlist" button for meetup groups we want to remember but can't join yet
I am finding meetup groups that I really would love to join but I need to wait a few months to find the time to do it, and in addition I would like to observe them from the outside for a while to see what types of activities they do and decide whether or not its the right group for me. I would like a way to be able to bookmark them or put them in a wishlist so that I can remember the groups I've found.

Provide the option to permanently removed specified groups from suggested meetups
I love the ability to see suggested meetups. However, there are certain groups that I will never be meeting up with. For example, as a man, I will not be joining any women-only groups. These groups do nothing for me except take up space on my home page.
It would be great to see an option to remove specific groups form the suggested meetup section wit something as simple as an "X". This would allow the suggested meetups to remain practical, yet personalized.

Allow users to list topics they are not interested in
In the same way that we can list our interested topics, it would be nice to have a 'blacklist' of topics we aren't interested. This would help to make the weekly emails and suggested groups much more relevant. For instance, I'm a single, 20-something, atheist male, yet meetup's suggestions include several 40+ groups, single women's only groups, christian singles groups, single parents, etc. Some other examples where this might be useful:
Yes on tango, no on salsa
Yes on board games, no on video games
Yes on Christian religion, no on New Age religion
etc...137 votes -
Display past event locations on a map to illustrate the group's activity area
For use when choosing a meetup that has had events in your area, the system should display locations for all or all recent events on a map. This could be done in various ways...
1) It could display each actual address as a pushpin. This would not be ideal because repeat events would be on top of each other and not represented properly, and it would potentially expose exact addresses that should be kept confidential.
2) A "heat map" overlay like what padmapper.com does with walkscores and crimescores. Areas with more events would be red. Areas with fewer events would…

Please reconsider the new "find" feature
The new "find" feature substitutes Meetup methodology for organizer judgement. As repeatedly noted on the forums, Meetup would not want to substitute their logo with a random, member generated photo - please don't force this onto organizers, either.
We don't want to have to make our groups private, but many of us have been forced to take this route. Your method allows inappropriate photos which do not represent our groups to be the main ad.
A high number of group joins isn't the focus of a responsible organizer. ACTIVE members is the focus. If a member can't be bothered to…

Filter new meetup group announcements by gender, age, orientation, etc.
With all the meetup emails I get, I don't need to see announcements for female-only or gay-only groups (I'm a straight male), or for groups that are outside of my age range. I'm sure women feel the same about male-only meetup groups.
I still want to get announcements for meetups that might interest me, but these just clog by my in-box even more.
This can be solved by making optional fields for gender, age, and sexual orientation (these can be check boxes, so people can check more than one option if necessary). Then, meetup organizers can select which categories their…

allow meetup account holder to set availability times
I get meetup invitations for meetups all the time. However, I can only attend weekend and Friday night meetups. Please make it so that I can set, in my central account profile, those times for which I am available so that I do not receive invititations for events that I cannot attend.

Allow Meetup group organizers to control which pictures are highlighted on the Search Page.
Currently, highlight photos on the search page are changing at random, and some photos are of individuals attending events, but don't necessarily give a representation of what the group is about. Organizers should be able to control which pictures are used or set it to use only the Group Profile Picture!

Searching For Meetup In More Than 1 Location
It would be very very helpful if you can have it whereby from a member's meetup location you determine that the member attends meetup in different cities and or states, and therefore make it easier to search for meetups they might be interested in.
How might this happen you might ask?
Well in my case due to the nature of my job, I mostly work in different cities and or states from which I live in. Since many times I need to use my start phone to search for meetups, it makes it difficult trying to enter the criteria and…12 votes -
be able to view a calendar, showing meetups only from the groups you're a member of, and not necessarily meetups I have RSVPd to.
Please allow for a calendar to be viewed, showing meetups only from the groups I'm a member of, and not necessarily meetups I have RSVPd to. I need to see, at a glance what my groups (only my groups) are up to.

Create a page/dashboard showing all upcoming events from just the groups you've joined
The current homepage is fine, I like the interests feature, the suggestions of groups and of upcoming events. But why isn't there a dashboard showing events for only the groups you've joined? To me, this would seem to be the most functional dashboard for the application. I love this service but I think we really need this feature. Maybe when you click "My Groups" that's what could show up. Thank you.

add the LOCATION of the meetup back to the Homepage calendar listing
The new 'homepage' calendar list of meetups by Day, no longer shows the LOCATION of the meetup. Since I live in Baltimore, and meetup are often in DC or northern Virginia, I rely on that information showing in the calendar listing.

Have organizers say at the beginning what area of town most meet ups will take place. It's really important for large metro areas.
List the area where most meet ups will be held. In a large metro area this us important to know before I even join because I may not want to join a group that consistently meets more than say 5 miles away. Excepting, of course, travel and outdoor adventure groups.

Have a NEXT button to move to the next meetup after I have RSVPed for an existing meetup
When you RSVP for a Meetup, you have to go back to Upcoming Meetups to see what else you have not RSVPed for. Why not have an arrow to advance to the next Meetup of that group, if there is one? Makes navigation one step easier, especially if many Meetups are scheduled and are in the future.

Provide a list of meetups going on at the same venue
When you see the location, you should be able to click on it and see a bunch of other meetups hosted at the same venue, who know, you could even do back to back meetups if you time it right.

"Free or Paid" search option for meetup
I think the meetup has to have a "Free" or "Paid" search option feature, that allows people to search for groups that does not charge unreasonable prices!!

Offer a random or chosen pic option for how groups are displayed in Find a Meetup Group.
When Meetup Members are surfing for a group to join, some of the pictures/photos that randomly turn up representing the group are either inappropriate or very private and meant for members eyes only and should not be used as a promotion for the group. This is a major privacy issue and I don't want to be forced to make my group private because of it. Some groups (and I would imagine most of them) would prefer only a logo or certain chosen pics to represent their group to the world. I therefore suggest this. Have only the logo pic as…

Option to list Featured Meetups first or list all chronologically
We're a car club that holds our own events, but also list events in the area that are open to our club. Obviously, we'd like our events to be featured for our members, but many other events may be of interest. We have, on average, 2-3 meetups per month, and have some events scheduled six months in advance. That means that anything that's not featured is not just off the bottom of the page, but follows events six months from now. People don't scroll through six months of events to find what's happening next week. IMO, the Featured Flag is…

Allow group organisers and co-organisers to categorise events within a group and allow members to filter events by event type.
For example, I help run an outdoors and adventure group. Our event types might be "Social", "Hiking", "Mountain Biking","Rock Climbing", "Sailing", etc.
Many members are only interested in Hiking, for example, and hate having to scroll down past numerous other events to find the few they are interested in.These categories might be related to the keywords used to define a group but it shouldn't be assumed that all keywords correspond to a category.
e.g. for our group we use three keywords "rambling", "walking", "hiking", but the category would probably just be "hiking".
Allow users to select which events they…
